As some of you may know it is the third day of Ramadan, a festival on the Muslim calendar. During Ramadan, no food or drink may be consumed (except water, i suppose) until night fall. This lasts until the 27th october - then Id-al-fitr begins - three days of feasting.
I'm not a muslim, but over half the people I know at my karate lessons are, so I have decided to give it a go - I find it difficult to reconcile the hatred a lot of people in my part of the world feel towards muslims with the muslims i know. Over half of the population of my town are muslim - you can just as easily buy a Pakistani newspaper as an English one here. I just want to involve myself.
Just thought I'd share!

I live in Dallas, Texas...we hate no one...well except for the Philadelphia Eagles (Football thing).
Nice way to share in the culture. If you're used to eating 6 times a day you're going to see a significant decrease in energy. Make sure after sunset that you're getting plenty of protein for your muscles. Also need to be careful in the feasting afterwards...just for the fact that you could come out of this with decreased muscle mass, as well as increased fat.

The hardest part is when I come home after sun-set - at the moment I am eating everything in sight. This is something I really need to overcome! After Ramadan, I think I'll do A LOT of running, get rid of that stored fat.
