Does anyone else have a hard time working out when their husband/boyfriend is watching?? I did my exersize tape last night, and while Tyler wasn't "watching" me, he was in the same room and it made me feel self concious. He even told me "Hunny, I'm not gonna laugh at your or anything, so just go for it." That just made me even more nervious about jiggling around! I know I just have to buck up and deal with it until I am comfortable enough with myself for him watching not to be a big deal, but is there anyone else who has dealt with this??

Yes! Lol, sorry for intruding on the womens room, but I peek sometimes...I feel the same way most of the time. I've made it clear to all of my family members that they are to steer clear of the workout zone during 'my time' I workout at the same time every day so everyone knows. Funny how it doesn't bother me to work out in front of strangers at a gym or something, but not friends and family.

I have to admit, I wouldn't be too comfortable with someone "watching" me either. I think part of the reason I like to workout is the "alone" time I get out of it. Even when you're at the gym and there are lots of people around, I feel like everyone is doing there own thing and could care less what I'm doing, so I don't feel I'm being "watched". Even if I'm just stretching at home, I tend to go to a room and close the door, just because I don't want an "audience". So what I'm saying is...you're not alone in feeling this way and if I was you I'd simply find a different place to workout or ask hubby to give you solitude during your workout- I think it a reasonable request.
BTW--welcome back to FT and good luck with your goals! -------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there. |

Welcome back CristalBelle. See' I spelled your name right. Nothing wrong with privacy sweetie. I like to be alone and uninterrupted as well when I work out. Put in a porno movie for him. He won't budge from the TV set and you can get in some cardio after your workout.-------------- Sometimes life is like herding cats. Charlie | |

oh charlie, you kill me!! lol!!! But that is a great idea if the kids arent around..
I am the same way, moreso if it being my alone time, rather than him watching, we have both worked out together several times, but seeing as we both have different goals, they require different workouts so instead of spending two hours in the gym i'd rather spend the 45 minutes weight training on my own and us meeting up to do cardio together. It works good that way. -------------- Bettia.... You will only be remembered for the things that you finish, not the things that you start! ravenbeauty@freetrainers.com |

Of course it did Andrew!!
Turns out, him watching my work out was to his benefit, because he used the tape on his day off yesterday, loved it, and was WAAAAYY sore this morning. So, I suppose we will either be taking turns using it in the evengings, or doing it together. Yay! |

lol andrew.....I confess...I didn't think it was going to be about this either....
I like working out with dedicated people with similar goals as I....whether my friends, strangers or whomever....a person there always helps with spotter situation and an extra perspective...I hate when people come to 'hang out' rather than work out....I think I actually push myself harder when people watch me...but then I am fairly comfortable lifting....it's a dominant response situation...where if you're comfortable/confident in something then you become even better in front of an audience...and vice versa when you're new to something or unsure of yourself....but that's ok....you eventually become better and better with time... as long as your husband is supportive then don't be anxious...instead get him involved....ask him if you perhaps need to improve your form on any exercise...or whether you're doing soemthing 'off' that he noticed...etc.... gl |
