I just bought Chromium Picolinate caps to help me lose weight and whey powder. Are they good? How will they help me? When is the best time to take them?

Chromium Picolinate suppleentation became a big hype recently. It has claimed to help build muscle and lose fat. There is no scientific evidence to prove this and are again, people are falling for it. The only benefet it does have is for elderly people, because as we get older it is harder for our bodies to absorb the mineral from foods. It does supress the appetite, but to me that will not help build lean tissue. So I would say , don't use them. Thats my 2 cents on Chromium Picolinate.
The whey powder is a very helpful supplement. After an exhausting training seesion, it is important to consume your whey with water, within 30-40 minutes of training. You may also want to have a shake before bed mixed with milk to slow the digestion. Keep in mind your protein requirements and you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanx Ivan. I was just looking through the post just now and I feel what u say is right that the chromium was a waste of money. i just wish I hadn't spent that money and spent it on something else. But i will definitely follow ur advice on the whey consumption. what should i take for weight loss? the hydroxycut brands available here in my country costs a leg. Help!

I hate to disagree with a fellow mod, but I feel Chromium can be quite beneficial for lean muscle if it is used correctly. I have been using it for more than 10 yrs. Where it shines is blood sugar/insulin response. It can in fact assist insulin to work much more efficiently, thus post workout can be an ideal time to use it. It will not build muscle, as will no supplement, but it is a worthwhile dietary aid, and if assisting with insulin, it indirectly can help build muscle.

So are you saying that my moneys not completely wasted? How long does it take for these supplements to begin working on the body i.e. when is it noticeable first?

should you stop working out if you are down with, say, a cold or something?

Like I said, it is not for building muscle or losing fat.

Extremely inexpensive, and again, if used correctly it indeed does have an affect on muscle. This in turn has an effect on fat, as you build muscle, you increase your metabolism, which in turn burns fat at a higher rate. Increasing insulin's efficiency do its job is essential.

I agree with bb1fit. As far as best bang for you buck goes, chromium is it. Very inexpensive and it increases insulins effectiveness. (I guess that's just a repeat of what bb1 said) It's also hard to obtain adequate amounts from diet alone so I also suppliment. I've read about its benifits in a lot of different credible places.
