Hi, I just finished my second workout on the same body parts and I feel it didn't go too well. :(
I felt weak throughout the whole session and first time I did this I felt the target areas burn and they felt like they are about to pop out and run home, I drove home and I barely could turn the steering wheel (mind you this was the first time working out) and the next day I get a BAD case of DOMS but a day later it passed and I was amazed with the results. It was only one workout and by biceps ware sticking out when they ware FLAT before and my triceps would jump out when flexing them and I was going "WOW, after only one workout?!?! I'm going to keep this up!" and few days later I had my first chest workout and after bad two days of DOMS there ware results, I can actually 'dribble' by chest (not the whole chest but the part that connects to the shoulder deltoids I think they are called) and its a great feeling. I stepped on the scale last night for the first time in a two weeks and it was showing 101kg where before it was 105kg and I was like "thats not right..." so I was going out and I slapped on my pair of jeans with out thinking too much and I ended up pulling it up the whole night as it was pretty loose and I need a belt now! So today I go to the gym expecting some serious lifting but I end up feeling like a wimp! I could barely finish sets with lower weights then I did a week ago. I didn't sleep too well last night as I only had around 5 hours of sleep and I carried some floor tiles for my day in the morning but I didn't feel it was stressing me, could the combination of those two be the cause? As for my diet I'm eating low fat high protein all day long, I eat 1-2 cups of 1.5% fat yogurt each day with a serving of granola for fibre and complex carbs, I eat either chicken breast or fish for lunch with a salad or something else and turkey/chicken breast low fat pastrami for dinner making it 6-7 meals all trough the day with totalling about 1500-1700 cals with almost no fat (I have high cholesterol). Now I'm not trying to bulk up but gaining lean tissue and loosing fat is my big goal and after I finish the current 8 week plan I might go on a bulk cycle, I'm also adding cardio next week on my off days with one full rest day in the middle. My concern was the weakness I felt today... Sorry for the long post :) |

sounds like not enough food in my opinion. your calories, especially in your carb intake, seem way too low for your size (i'm not trying to offend, just that what you are eating doesnt sound like it supports your level of activity). i would consider upping your carbs, making sure you are getting at least 1 gram per lb bodyweight in protein, and again, dont be too afraid of fats. keep the the unsaturate kinds primarily, but a but of saturated is ok, just keep it low as possible.
as for the whole carbs thing, this is going to be your primary energy source. they keep your muscles full, and if you're going into a workout with a half tank or worse, you cant expect phenomenal results. |

I'll take it another week and see if the weakness continues and if it does I'll start adding carbs, what would be a good source of extra carbs? Extra slice of bread or two? Potatoes?
Also you say 1 gram per lbs that means 222 grams of protein daily and thats just insane amount to achieve with no protein shakes, what can I add to my diet to achieve that? |

If you are eating 6-7 meals just divide the 222 by 7 comes to about 31 grams. When you add each gram you eat in each meal 31 is not that hard to get to. One chicken breast, a few oz of cottage chees, a can of tuna etc.-------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

Yeah it would but I currently have 0 income and will not have a job for at least a few months now until my SAT's are over and I'm currently in University and that doesn't leave me enough time for work. I'm mooching on my parents right now and my mom is a retired doctor and she refuses to allow me to use protein powders as she thinks they are bad, go figure... I still live in their house so I don't want no stupid fights over things like that.
She thinks my body will break down my fat in order to get the protein it needs and I'm thinking to myself is that what they ware teaching in med school 30 years ago??? I probably can convince her to get me some powder milk and there might even be whey powder in the drug stores here but I'll have to look into that, anyhow leg workout tomorrow! Wish me good luck! |

prices at bodybuilding.com are pretty reasonable.. you can pick up a 5lb jug of Optimum Nutrition's Whey (good stuff) for about $30 Canadian. and no offense to your mom, but that fat/protein thing is physically impossible. they're two completely different nutrients. but whatever the case, you have my support.. good luck! :)

Thanks for the tip on the whey but I'm in Israel...
Anyhow she also thinks that I'm doing damage to myself because my muscles get sore after each workout... She means well but just isn't educated in that department... Thanks for the support! |

Alright here are some prices here in Israel:
Ultra Whey Pro 2.27kg - 60$ ProLab Pure Whey 2.3kg - 65$ Ultra Whey Pro 3kg - 65$ Prostar Whey Protein 2.27kg - 69$ You see the picture, they are all 22g per serving with servings around 30g so that would get me trough a month only! Can't afford it so I guess I'll have to do without it. |
