Aaaargh, I'm having a really lousy week, and I'm teetering on the edge of just saying screw the whole thing. All my workouts have sucked this week, and I've had to reduce weight and reps on just about everything. Despite this, I've still managed to do my workouts which for me is amazing. So anyone who can give me a boost, tell me it's all worth it, I'm not too old, it'll pass, etc. and so on, please tell me now!

Every1 has these...I have recently lost 100lb on my squat...tweaking my form....annoying as hell...but I look at this as an opportunity to learn and come ahead...in my case revaluate the form on the squat and start anew with less weight and better technique to be more fundamentally sound...I have also had to reduce weight on other weights...I am just now approaching weights I was doing before I had injuries and illnesses during early part of the year...bottom line is just keep going to the gym...fight in every set...on every rep....fitness is a journey....with ups and downs...gotta take good with the bad....
Also remember that strength can fluctuate considerably depending on many factors like sleep, stress, difficulty of previous workouts, nutrition, etc.....so keeps these in mind...

yeah jim, its happened to all of us. dont worry about it, just focus on getting back on track. i've had a pretty awful week this week too.. what with midterms and all (lets just say they havent all went according to plan :)) the important thing is to regain your composure and hit them hard again. you've come a long way.. reflect on your accomplishments and look for motivation, whether what you are doing is for your family, friends, or yourself. we all hit bumps in the road, its how react to these obstacles that determines our character.

Whenever I hear about someone loseing strength and having a bad week, one thing comes to mind.
If you work through this week, and you are still having trouble next week, then you may want to take a week off. A "bad week" can oftentimes be a sign of overtraining. Not only will a week off (or a tapering week with reduced overall volume) allow you to rest and recover, but the time off will allow you to reevaluate the goals and enter the gym anew with new set motivation.
I know for me, taking a week off is one of the hardest things to do. During that whole week, all I can think about is how bad I want to get back into the weight room. Then, when I do get back in, I am fired up and ready to train.

If you smoke or don’t wear your seatbelt, please don’t tell me the deadlift is dangerous.
Light weight is an oxymoron.

Thanks for all of the encouraging words, I've had a much better day. I think a lot of it has to do with diet. I get bummed or discouraged and fall back into old eating habits, which for me means skipping breakfast and lunch, and just having supper.
On the lighter, brighter side during work today my inner/upper thighs kept annoying me, took me awhile to figure out that it was because they were rubbing together. LOL, never in all of my 40 years have my thighs come even close to touching. They only touch if I'm wearing jeans, but I see it as progress. Only question, if my thighs keep getting bigger do I have a lifetime of chafing to look forward to?

i'm getting the same problem.. i never used to have problems finding pants when i had chicken legs, now im finding it harder and harder to fit my thunder thighs into a pair of jeans that would have been fine a year ago. theres alot of different sizes and styles out there, its just finding one that works thats the tricky part. i'm also a picky shopper, so that just makes it worse..
