This is a little off the topic but I had to tell someone...About 8 months ago I left my car overnite at a garage that my father owns to get it fixed. In the trunk I had a brand new snowboard with new bindings. When I picked up my car the equipment was missing and I was so mad. (I only used it twice!)...ANYWAYS...Today I went to a new /used sporting goods store (about 15 miles away from the garage)to pick up some new weights. Something told me to look at the snowboards, and there it was!!!My name and everything still on it. I told the guy it was mine and I wanted to know who sold it to him. He tried looking it up but said he couldn't find it. The person made $250 off of my stuff. Can you believe it? Any ideas on what I can say to get it back?

Can that work even if I didn't file a police report at the time? The guy told me I would have had to do that.

It has your name on it. Of coarse he says you should have filed a police report. He bought hot merchendise. You can recover it only through the pawn shop detail. Regular police can't help. The pawn shop guy will be out the money he paid for the hot stuff. Works for me.

HMMM...I think I would feel like an idoit going to the police about a snowboard. Maybe if I get all dressed up and go down there they won't give me a hard time! Rhode Island cops love to bust your B@#$! This guy should have given me some store credit or something! I don't think he believed me, he had me write down all my info. He also told me that he thought the board got there within' the past few months, but yet they have no record of it!

Police kiddo. He believed you. You had ID. Most people knowingly holding hot merchandise are reluctant to provide their persecutors with documentation and proper postage.
