Beginner: To Lose or Not to Lose

Hi, my names rob, and over the last 4 or 5 years i've put on close to a 60 pounds not to my liking, i'm 25 years old and i've gone from 210 to about 270, i have a decent frame to put on muscle, my question it,..do i need to go one some sort of crash diet and build up muscle from there or do i use the fat i have and build on it,,...

I would concentrate on losing the fat first, while at the same time you will be toning and strengthing your current muscle mass.

The reason I suggest this is you don't sound happy from an asthetic standpoint now, and a pure bulking program would add more fat.
