WHEN IDIOTS OFFER THEIR ADVICE

2005/12/12, 07:59 PM
Now I normally would just ignore this stuff....but this particular idiot offered his advice twice...in one instance I stepped in and corrected it....because it was offered to one of my friends ...the other advice was offered to a third party...a female who I didn't know and felt out of line to step in although now I think I should have....

It started when one of my friend's friend came in today and did squats for the first time...I offered him advice on how to do them and so forth and he was going deep and doing everything well except he leaned just a bit too much forward but it was in part because he did deadlifts and rows beforehand and was tired....and when I got him to put plates under his heels he just about solved the problem....anywayz

This idiot walks up and tells him to put his toes right against the mirror when he's squatting....I dunno what he wanted him to do...get dizzy....or hell knows what....then he tells him to not let his knees travel past his toes...which he said another trainer told him...however as we already know on freetrainers....doing that puts about 1000% more pressure on the hips....so taking like 49% increase in pressure on knees is relatively better.....so I tell my friend all this and tell him to avoid the previous advice...

Then a female approaches a squat rack loads up 2 45s...135 total and starts doing reps of 8-10....going down about 1/2 and 2/3 of the way...still very impressive as she is the first female in the gym to do this....so I see that idiot walk over to her afterwards....and offer that same advice....I am normally a very mellow guy but I wanted to strangle him...instead of telling her to go down deeper or maintain proper arch , proper eye level, and so forth...eh

I think this is why I love that nobody offers me advice nowawadays...

bottom line: DO NO OFFER UNNEEDED ADVICE...ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T KNOW WTF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.....

sorry but I had to get off my chest so to speak...

I agree with most of that menace. I learned a looong time ago to not offer advice unless it's asked for but I have absolutely no qualms about countering those "experts" who have no idea of what they're doing.

advice in the gym is always interesting. If it's a friend of mine I'll point out some things to them, but for the general individual I don't bother because you never know how they will take it.

Go to your local super market, go to the beverage Isle and you will find many 6 pacs

That's all well and good Mutt. My problem is that whilst I find it easy to actually get the six pack, I find great difficulty in maintaining my six pack after I get back from the supermarket! It tends to disappear within about an hour. I guess I must have poor genetics!!!

In that case I suggest the 24 pak!
