Hey everyone. I have a few questions about protein. Im doing weight lifting 4 days a week and I was wondering...

1) should I be taking Whey Protein or Casein protein, or can i take them both at the same time.

2) and should I take my protein before I weight-lift or after?

Whey is ideal post workout, and can be beneficial pre workout also. In fact a blend pre workout would probably be ideal. Casein during the day, and pre bed.

You do not have to get both. The whey is essential pwo for fast absorbtion. For the casein, you can simply eat food.

alright thats good, I'll just buy the Whey Protein then. And I should take it before weight lifting right?

And I heard that Whey Protein makes you gain weight, is that true or does it just make you gain muscle mass?

It doesn't "make" you do either. You just have to include the protein in your total caloric intake.

No protein in and of itself will make you do either. You will not gain weight with anything if you are in an energy deficit. If you have the other proper nutrients, and you are above maintenance and glycogen stores are full, you can gain weight or muscle. Chances are if you are working out sufficiently, and diet is in accordance, you will gain a bit of both.

alright, thanks everyone. I need both more muscle and weight, so it works out for me. I'll pick up some whey protein and add it into my diet, I'll take it after I weight lift.
