Short answer: work on all four areas of the abs (obliques, upper and lower).
Long answer: Is this all you want to achieve, fitness wise? I suggest that yo uincorporate other things, like cardio, so that when that six-pack starts to develop, you are lean enough for it to show.
There is so much scope to your post, that I recommend you take a while and have a good look around this whole site; the other message boards, the exercise pages, nutrition pages, etc.
