This may be heresay, but even while following the westside template, I did not agree w/ everything. In fact, dave tate says that anyone that does blindly follow their advice needs a swift kick...well you get the idea.
I am back home from college, and an older friend I know wants to train on Monday. I suggested bringing bands, and he told me he couldn't, he has another week before he begins using bands again. He apparently follows a 4 week raw, 2 week chain, 2 week band cycle, ala westside. My thinking is this, and herein lies my disagreement.
Louie's definition of conjugated periodization is training multiple strength qualities simultaneously. He is clearly against training in cycles like alternating or linear periodization. so then why cycle the bands? I use the bands whenever I feel like it. That is as scientific as my band training gets. Some weeks I will use them everyday, others, not at all. I have no access to chains or weight releasors, so it is bands or nothing. This is my own form of cyberkinetic periodization (a fancy way of saying training by feeling).
