The ones here at FTs on some of the other threads are bad enough, but I was browsing through another website (I know - that was my first mistake), and some of these posts floor me!

How in the hell do you have a 720 dealift, with a 450 squat and a 350 bench!? Somebody lied; where the hell is my bull *expletive deleted* flag!

"450 squat and a 350" maybe they added them together?? Nah, the math doesn't come out right. :)

At what bodyweight??? For some reason, this doesn't seem that off to me? (and i am the king of calling bs).

Although unlikely, it could just be possible that they are a geared powerlifter with lousy leverages. A lot of guys are geared towards the deadlift (bolton, benni), where as others are better with the squat and bench (jeff lewis). This is an extreme example, and unless its a hw lifter, I would call bull as well.

Hell I am an exact same example

I did upwards of 675 for 1+1 reps before in deadlift granted with straps while squatting only around 420 and benching now around 400 @210-215...raw... some people naturally have a predisposition towards certain lifts and their muscles may respond differently. I have very weak hips which are absolutely crucial for squat but not necessarily so for deadlifts...shitty form or not I never had problems :::knocks on wood::: lifting the way I have...and I am pretty sure I am not alone in this. Plus there are some deadlift and bench specialists which creates strength imbalances as they are not hitting all muscles equally hard... plus there's no need to be a SHW...dexter jackson did 800+ deadlift at 220lb or even lighter and he's a bodybuilder in a powerlifting competition....short guys who weigh a lot for their relative height have an advantage especially if they have relatively long arms or some other natural advantage...yes many people bs but there are plenty who just happen to be this way...who even cares....eh just my usual 2 cents...

I'm talking about people who claim to be powerlifters coming up with 400 pound differences between deads and squats. If you have a physiologically limiting condition, I understand. But therein lies the inherent problem. These fools who don't train for balance in the strength sports only end up hurting themselves and make themselves look like idiots while they complain about how bad lifting is for you. These guys get up, do a deadlift off the rack, bench half way, or barely bend their knees so little in a squat that you need stop action photography just to see the bar move, and then they call this there max. Or, worse yet, have no idea what powerlifting lifts may be the norm, and just tout out numbers to try to impress the other board members.

Either way, it doesn't matter. Pissing contests are all worthless anyway, which was my original point. I don't give a damn if Coleman as "the strongest man on the planet" (or whomever) can squat 2000 pounds for reps; get into a LEGITMATE comp and show yourself what you're really made of. Otherwise, all they're doing is disrespecting those in all of the strength sports with such nonsense. Numbers and PRs are worthless to everyone else except you and the judges while you're sweating blood on the freakin' platform.
Competition with yourself is tough enough. Just get through that...

many don't test....there are a crap load of plers taking major roids.....so no surprise here...steroids are just as much a part of PLing and strong men events as bodybuilding....they just don't have a physique resembling anything close to what an average person wants to look like this is why no one pays attention to it...

Powerlifting is actually one of the cleanest sports out there. there's no money involved, and most of the competitions are tested.
Granted, there are untested competitions. and then there are europeans, who are just always one step ahead of the IPF. However, powerlifting is much cleaner than most other sports.

I feel that powerlifting is not a clean sport at all. Those guys do steroids for different reasons then just money. Recreational weight lifters (powerlifters included) also have the highest rate of steroid use of any group of athletes in the country. People get addicted to what steroids do for them. Strength, size, confidence. Major League Baseball is a close second.
