Hi, I just joined today. My biggest problem with working out is that i hate arobic activity and i quickly lose my motivation. My motivation in highschool was sports. I no longer can do the same sports. Do any of you have any tips to keep one motivated?

I just started as well. I am keeping a picture of what I currently look like on my bathroom miiror. When I look at myself in a picture, or in the mirror, I sak myself why I look like this, why I let myself look like this, and what am I going to do about it. When I start to see results, and I look at that picture, I see all the motivation I'll need. Maybe that will work for you too!

I find that it's really easy to work out if you have someone else who has the same goals as you do and who will push you to keep going. Also you can keep working out enjoyable by listening to your favorite music or rewarding yourself after each week of staying on schedual. It is also necessary to write everything down to keep track of your progress. It helps to write down your exercise by what you did and the difficulty associated with what you did that way you can see how much easier everything becomes as you progress. I hope this helped. Good luck!

My motivation sometimes is getting my money's worth out of the gym membership.

You mentioned that you can't do the "same" sports you used to enjoy; is there other sports that you could take up that would be enjoyable and help you stay motivated? I truly believe that part of keeping healthy is finding what you enjoy doing that keeps you active...even people that say they HATE exercise sometimes don't realize that they may like walking trails, canoing, even playing ping pong for an hour burns a great amount of calories, lol! Exercise comes in so many ways and I have found by switching them not only helps my boredom level, but it also keeps my body from getting used to an activity and then I plateau out on it, not getting the same benefits. Weight training is awesome, even if you do it twice a week and combine it with other things. And exercise doesn't mean having to go to the gym, I just read that the Greeks used to lift CALVES for their weight lifting --now that doesn't mean you have to go out and lift some baby cows, just that you can use some ingenuity and there may be a couple things you find you really enjoy and makes you forget you are actually getting in that exercise!! :) Good luck to you!
