hey everyone,
I have reached a plateau and I am frustrated to the point where I hate being in the gym and my strength seems to be decreasing as well as my energy level. Since I am on vacation now I will not be able to stick to my workout, eating, sleeping etc. routine since I am away from home and traveling alot. So I figured I should take some time away from the gym and give my body a total rest. However I am worried about loosing mass and strength etc. What would you guys recommend I do? If I do take a break should I still consume the calories I normally do, or should I only eat when I am hungry etc. In other words should I still have my 5 egg whites in the morning and all that...? Anyone with experience in this area please help.
Thanks!
Eric B.

Hey Eric - Sometimes a layoff can be good for you but there's one thing to be careful of. Unless working out and healthy diet has become a way of life for you, it's awful tempting to let that week or two draw out to several years. As for diet, adjust according to your energy expenditure. If you're sedentary, you won't need near the food intake as you would with an active workout cycle. Even when I'm taking a break I still eat the several smaller meals (just less of it) but that's the norm for me.

I couldn't agree with mike anymore. good luck and I hope that you regain the drive to go back to the gym in a couple weeks.
