I'm new to this webiste and I was wanting to get more involved with the fitness comunity. I live in a relitivly sparsely populated area and seldom have someone to train with except when I am at school which is an hour from where I live. I usually don't push myself very hard unless I have someone else to lift with excluding my family. I was lifting last spring with an ex-weightlifting coach for the denver broncos who had also coached football at westpoint. during this period I made extraordinary gains in all of my lifts due to training and having to compete with my older friends. Next year I will be at the top of the heap streingth and speed wise at my school. so in short I need something to keep me progressing.

Welcome to FT, popsail111. Motivation is not always easy as everyone finds it in different ways, but it always has to come from within. Maybe if you keep your chart records, keep a journal, etc. you may find competing with yourself can be motivating. I don't have anyone much interested in exercise, no neighbors, no family members, nothing...natta...so I realized I had to find what worked for me, I knew what I wanted and I am on my way to get it. Set yourself some serious goals, maybe smaller ones that are attainable in a shorter amount of time and reward yourself with something that would contribute to continued exercise. You could always put an ad in a local online community forum for someone to work out with, I have thought about that. Good luck to you!

I finally had my problems worked out for me. My school just recently re-equipmented the weight room. All the crappy machines that were taking up space were removed and were replaced by either olympic lifts and squat and bench racks. And now that they did this they changed the Times the weightroom is open to incorporate people who also play sports so that we can lift before practice starts.
