I"m hard headed...full blown...dense as granit. I resently hurt my back last week dling. A pretty bad strain too...so I took rest of week off....yesterday it was tight but ok....then I had a b ball game...I did 2 stunts...2 stunts to many....no I feel I have further put back my progress of recovery anopther 3 to 4 days... It just sucks from going to being active and strong .....to laying around and weak.....and "average" strength.
I'm think about doing a crazy bench program or somthing....metal melita or somthing....hive my back a rest....my bench sucks anyways...so might as well work on that... I tried box squating 135 the other day....wasn't happening. So for me its just bench work for 2 weeks or so.... as have I. I did 3 weeks without squatting or doing much lower body, and it didn't suffer to much...
Metal militia is tough. Its a LOT of volume. I would recommend splitting the workouts up, am/pm, because the workouts generally run over 2 hours. Also, the militia are masters of bench shirts. The program is for shirted lifters, so modify as such. However, it is a routine for bench specialization, so by allm means... Talk about feeling like a traitor to lifting, I hardly got to do anything for my lower body this summer or in the preseason due to injury, and during basketball it sucks sometimes cuz you can't really lift very often at all. We finally got a week of this week, so I kinda did a Westside ordeal and freakin box squattin for speed with 135 made me sore :laugh:!! I also am sore from performing triples up to 150 on bench on ME day!! It is terrible. how would I modify the shirt day?
I was thinking maybe chains? I know its gonna be tuff.....but I have always neglected my upper body a lil....nows a good time to try it.. I was thinking...do the 2 days that they say do.....and on another do ...back..maybe some leg press for the drive ....any thoughts? -------------- Friends don't let friends squat high... A lot of it depends on how you feel. I'm assuming your back isn't quite suited to doing some hyperextensions or anything like that since it's hurt from DLing, so when you say back, do you mean your upper back? If your bench program doesn't have you training your back, you definitely should do some kind of row and vertical pull. I would do high rep bodyweight hyperextensions, if they don't hurt. This will speed up your recovery.
Leg press can put a lot of stress on the back. as for the shirt day, I would train it just as a lockout day. This is pretty much what MM is, one day low end, second day top end. Chains would be an excellent option, as they would mimic the strength curve of a shirt (as well as a raw lift, but the curve is more extreme with a shirt). Other options would be board press, rack lockouts, and bands. -------------- Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. Talk about thick headed... My foot is finally feeling better. My thick bar is only 6 feet long. I decide to deadlift sumo with it. Any guess as what happened there? lol.
I don't know if its broken, but it hurts like hell. Not serious enough to keep me from training legs again. dont most people who or doing heavy benching modify their form as well? especially with a shirt. they end up bringing their shoulder blades together as tight as possible, generally arch the back with the ol' rear end planted. this causing some strain on the lower back, not necessarily alot, but some. this way it limits the distance between chest and lockout. i may be wrong, but that is the way i've noticed most heavy lifters, such as brian siders and shawn lattimer go about their bench and lattimer is a MM if i'm not mistaken.

yes I meant Upper back baller....i'm doing some back hypers with my body weight, and stretching....I did some leg press today... since cause of my build i have to put my feet high on the plat form....my back can't really come off the mat. I did it just so my legs can feel some weight....nothing more.

have to say after one day of mm....I was exhausted....took me about 2 hours...to do the whole 1st day....but I only did 7 sets on normal bench....and 10 sets on board press...hard to believe i'm soposed to do 15-30....lol

I TOLD YOU SO! Too much volume for my tastes. Also, to much shirt work. I would think Cortisol took major effect on growth when working out for that long using that much volume? Besides that, none of them compete in full 3 lift meets (at least not regularly), so they are only doing their bench workouts, with the rest of the week to recover. -------------- Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. wrestler is right, most of the guys that I've talked to that do Metal Militia do concentrate mainly on Bench. But after talking to Shawn Lattimer I found out that he does do alot of squats, but doesn't deadlift any that he mentioned.

Lattimer did come to mind when I was postin that (I saw a video of a raw squat workout with him), but I don't believe he competes in 3 lift meets.

Well i'm also doing this for a "shock" thing too...to my chest...its not used to 2hours of work....maybe it will spur some growth and strength? Least this way i'm doing somthing and not just getting fat lol....but i am cutting some of the work out. way back when i was emailing lattimer for bench tips he told me that he only competed in bench, but did the squat for overall strength.
