Is there anything I can do to make it so I don't have the fish burps after I take my fish oil capsule?? I take it halfway through my dinner(somethin on bottom and somethin on top) to try and help it stay down, but so far am not having much luck. Also, my capsules are 1000mg, and my doctor wants me to take 10g...thats the same thing right? Or is my math completely off?

1000mg = 1g, so you need to take 10/day, according to your Dr. Not sure what to suggest about the fish burps. I get them sometimes and I always take mine first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, simply because it's the only time I'll remember. I seem to remember menace having a suggestion regarding this, but can't remember what his solution was. I've just learned to live with the occational fish burps.
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

Holy Crap. There is no way I can take 10 of those pills a day. Maybe I can find a pill thats a higher dosage? As it is the things are hard to swallow because they are so big!

10g does seem like alot. I think BB! once recommended something like 1g/50lb of body weight, so for me that would by about 3 grams or 3 pills. I just take 1 pill per day, but I try and eat healthy fats in my diet like fish, walnuts, almonds as well as some other items which are incorporating Omega 3's like my skim milk and yogurt. You might want to look at using some natural sources to help cut down on the huge number of pills your Dr. is recommending. Just imagine your fish burps after 10 pills:(

Based on BB1's idea I would only be taking 5. I wonder why the Dr. wants me to take so much? I'm in a place right now where I don't have much control of what I eat, but I can try and fit in some tuna fish on a regular basis hoping that helps.
10 pill fish burps....more like 10 pill fish pukes!

Split up fish oil capsules into 2 or more dosages....I usually take mine in morning and before sleep...try to take them with a meal...
try taking enteric coated fish oil capsules which just about eliminate fish oil aftertaste/burps....they usually cost somewhat more...but if the 'fish oil' burps really bother you and you can afford it then definitely consider it...

Need a new healthier look for the New Year. At present I weight 156 and stand 5ft 31/2 inches tall. My poor legs get tired very easy now. My doctor has told me to lose about 40 lbs. I am a novice 58 year old female who need help.

I got some enteric coated fish capsules and bye-bye fish burps! They taste a little odd going down, it may even be more of a texture thing, but once they're down, they're down. Thanks guys for the tip:big_smile:
