Hi everyone! I Just joined here tonight. I've been dieting for the last two months at least. When i started dieting i was 185lbs. When i went to the doctor two weeks ago i was up to 206lbs. That is the heaviest i've ever been and i wanted to start screaming.
I'm hoping to tone up, loose weight, get fit and helthier all at once. My first question wich i really don't understand. Some diets tell you to cut the caleries and excersize more. Well i went down to about 1500 - 1700 caleries a day and started walking. According to my doctors visit it wasn't helping any. Why?
Here's my other problem wich is with the Nutritional Plan. I'm trying to add tuna helper (it's a dinner like the hamburger helpers), but i can't get it to come up. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Hey Jen - that's way too few calories for your body weight. You want the weight to come off slow but steady and starving yourself won't do that. Read the thumb tacked posts in the Diet and Nutrition forum and you'll get a better idea of the philosphy that works better. I can't help you with the Nutritional Plan but maybe someone else will come along that can.

Mike, thanks for the comment. I don't starve myself on perpose. I was born with an iron deficiancy that i've been fighting all my life. The iron issue makes it so that i'm rarely able to eat in the morning because i wake up feeling sicker than a dog. There are also times durring the day when even thinking eating makes me feel like the contents of my stomache are going to come up.
Though i did get some good news at my recent doc appointment. My iron counts are up a little bit, though i'm still extremly animic. Looks like the tuna, pinto, and baked beans are starting to help.

Well the most important thing to do is believe that you can stick with your diet. Second, start eating healthy and lower the CARBS up to 80 a day. Third, walking isn't going to really help you...you need to run! RUN RUN RUN. I know i hate that too, you get way too tried but later your body will get used to it. Also, WHEY PROTEIN shakes/bars help you lose weight. Whey proteins isnt like other proteins and help you gain, it actually makes you lose weight.. so i suggest you try it..My mom lost weight by doing this!!

The roxy thanks for the advise. However first i'm unable to run due to an accident i was in 12 years ago. :( I'm lucky i'm able to walk let alone alive. Also Whey makes me physically ill. Instead i eat soy protein wich i digest better. But thanks.

What sort of workout program are you following? are you doing any resistance training....increased muscle mass means increased metabolism....Do you eat much red meat? this is full of good healthy iron. :) Running isn't the only cardio exercise out there...walking will certainly help...swimming, biking, eliptical trainers, stairclimbing....you name it just keep moving. Good luck!

hey lonegirl
I belong to bobs gym where i use the resistance machines and swim on a regular basis. I also do a lot of walking. No i don't eat much red meat - i don't digest it easily and it makes me gain gain gain. I do take iron suppliments and eat protein bars that have a high iron content.
Also an update!! I lost 5lbs in 2 weeks! i'm down to 203
