Ok, I consider myself a beginner since I have been out of the game for 15 years and am starting over.
My question is this, when I bench I don't feel it in my chect but in my Bi's. I am taking it slow so I don't just rush through a rep and get the rep out correctly. I have even tried doing curls before the bench so I fatigue them and force my chest to work, no go.
How do you force yourself to concentrate on the chest and not incoporate other muscles as much?

The biceps are considered to be a secondary muscle worked/used in the bench press. The thing to keep in mind is that you are just getting started back in, so you may find that you feel it in your biceps because they are not used to being worked. Chances are as your body becomes more conditioned that you will experience this less. Of course it doesn't hurt to double check on your form.

Actually it is rather impossible for the biceps to be used as a secondary muscle in this. They are a pulling muscle not a pushing. That said, the bench is a compund exercise and at some point all muscle groups come into play. What you are most likely experiencing is beginner syndrome where the main muscle group has not been worked in this way so the rest of the body is taking over to do the work. This will pass in time. Good luck

Very well put. That was the point I was trying to get at but perhaps did not use the right terminology.

Thanks for the info. I am working hard to get rid f the "man boobs".
A little funny story about myself; I am taking it slow right now so I am benching 115 Lbs and I wasn't thinking yesterday and put 115 Lbs on the bar, when I normally take the weight of the bar in to account for the total weight. After I squeezed out 4 reps I realized what I had done. Luckily I was working out at work and non one saw the look on my face, heh.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FOR A WHILE WHEN I STARTED USING HEAVIER WEIGHTS MORE BI'S THAN PECS,SO I STOPPED DOING FLAT BENCH FOR A WHILE AND TRADED IT FOR INCLINE BENCH AND DUMBELL FLYS AND IT WORKED GREAT FOR ME, BUT EVERY ONES DIFFERENT.WITH THE FLYS YOU CAN HIT WHATEVER ANGLE IT IS YOU FEEL YOUR MISSING WITH YOUR BENCH WITH LESS BICEP INVOLVEMENT.GOOD LUCK:)
