Hello all,
I'm 18 and just now trying to get serious with working out. I use to workout on and off with basketball training but thats about it lol.. but anyways this is my question..
What is the best way to determine what weight you should start off at with each exercise?
also..How much weight should you add each time you lessen your reps ?
I hope that made sense... lol
Thanks a lot
Matt
p.s Sorry if this had already been covered, but i couldnt find a search button for the forum lol

Rep range and intensity will be dependent on your goals.
-------------- Iron and chalk.
Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run.

So then you don't know what weight to be using for those repetitions?
I would start off by doing a weight that is very easy for a warm up, and then work up the weight from there. Once you get a feel for it, you will probably want to stop one rep short of failure for most of your sets.
For example, if the program says to do 8 reps, pick a weight that you can do for 9 reps.

I use the F.T. program and I add 10 lbs per on any excercise that requires both hands arms or legs and five on singles. When I can do all the sets and reps with a current weight without cheating I simply add the 5 or 10 lbs to my starting weight and step up accordingly depending again on if it is a single arm leg or both. I am not a professional but I have been doing this about a year and it works for me for progressive gains.
-------------- "Do the right Things" and "Do Things Right". You will succeed.
