Well, you say you are skinny, yet you want to get cut? Build some muscle, then worry about getting cut.
A six pack with twig arms looks pretty silly. -------------- Strength and Honor! |

Hello Nick, I was in your same situation. Always skinny for as long as I could remember. I think I consistently held 5'-9" tall 120 lbs all thru highschool up until I was 21 years old and decided to do something about it. I tried a lot of thinks creatine protien drinks etc.
Here is the answer CALORIES. Take in a lot of them. Keep track of what you normally eat in a week and the next up the intake. Your going to gain some body fat but not as much as you think. But you have to if you want to get cut. Eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I ate at least 2 a day along with breakfast lunch and dinner. Start off lifting small, don't try and be a hero lifting big weights, everyone had to start small an you will too. Keep good form and the weights will get easier to lift. And if you get bloated from eating too much then eat a little less and substitue the additional food for a weight gainer drink, and mix it with milk. I assume you have a fast metabolism like I do so, the rule I used was you take your realistic weight goal, say you wanted to weight 140 lbs. Take 140lbs X 17 = 2380 calories a day. If your matabolism isn't so fast then multiply your weight goal by 16 or 15. Trust me when you as little as you are and I once was 2400 calories a day your body is pretty much forced to grow bigger. MAKE SURE YOU GET PLENTY OF SLEEP TOO! But if your lifting as hard as you should be, believe me you'll want to sleep. Do a routine for 8-10 weeks then take a 2 week break, no lifting for 2 weeks, no acceptions. Enjoy the break but keep bringing in the calories. There will come a day that if you want to get bigger your going to have to increase the calories more. I was about as a "hardgainer" as they come, and with the above method I gained 30 lbs in 6 months and my six pack that I always had from being so skinny was still visible. Don't give up keep at and you will get bigger too, it just takes time. |

Ok bb1 and ba, where you guys got me lmao i'm gonna be a little gentler with this guy.
bikoholic, I'm not even sure what to say to you about your PB&J advice. mxpx, what you need to do is eat a sensible diet. Go to the specific diet and nutrition forum and eat foods off the "grocery list for healthy eating". Take in 1.5-2gr protein per lb of body weight daily with most coming from whole foods, only one protein shake after your workout. Drink 1/2 at first then sip the rest over 30 minutes or so. Have a solid meal before you workout with a slow burning carb like oats and include a protein source. You can read up on diet elsewhere on the site or just do a search(bottom of page) on bulking up or building mass should give you penty of reading material. You shouldn't need creatine at your age. Gains should come to you pretty easily if you eat right and train hard. You can choose a workout routine at the top of the page under exercise program that fits you best, don't bite off more than you can chew. You'll do fine big guy, good luck and welcome to T!!! -------------- Seize the day! |
