I am 53 years young, was diagnosed late last year with type 1 diabetes. For the last 30 years I have been in a strict habit of weight lifting and took up road biking three years ago. Diabetes was not in my thought process at all. Now I take insulin three times a day, check my glucose level three times a day and for the first time limit my carb intake. Good sound nutrition has always been a part of my life and really now has to be. I would like to discuss with other fitness fanatics what diabestes has done to their routines and learn what to expect from mine. So far I have the diabetes under control and plan to keep it that way, as the alternative is not good. I hit the weights 3 to 4 times per week, long road bike rides on week ends when I can and wonder if the diabetes pump would make my life and fitness routines any better. Any feedback would be appreciated.
