When doing reps and sets,is it better to stay at one weight throughout the set,or change it up

IE-I do

4 Sets
REps
20-10lbs
15-5lbs
12-3lbs
10-10lbs

Just curious

Why are you doing so many reps? If you can do 20 reps with a weight, you aren't lifting heavy enough, drop your reps and raise the weight - you will get better results.
usually you stay with the same weight during a set, but increase in the next set. There are some exceptions, like dropsets, where you strip some weight off the bar and keep doing reps, but I don't get that that is what you are asking about.

Iam actually following the FT workout program...I had a trainer tell me long ago "if you need to loose weight and want to gain muscle,go for high weights low reps, ideal weight and want to tone...low weights, high reps"

Well I need to do the first,so I will increase my weight and lower my reps

the whole higher rep/less weight thing is a big myth.

You get a majority of your results from your eating plan, then from a decent, heavy, continually challenging weight training plan, and some cardio to supplement your lifting.

Always one more rep or one more pound, every workout is more intense and effective than the last.

That is just my opinion - muy best results came with months of consistent heavy training and cardio and eating the right foods every three hours. Consistency is the key.

I thought you were suppose to increase the weight with few reps not decrease
20-3lbs
15-5lbs
12-8lbs
10-10lbs

would be what I'm thinking is right
