Not really sure i understand what a raw almond is to begin with. Are the almonds in the planters can of mixed nuts considered raw? Well anyways, the 6-meal a day diet i am on calls for a handful or raw almonds as a mid-snack between lunch and dinner, dont know the reason, but is there anything that i can substitute it for?

The almonds in a planters can are most likely roasted and salted, so they have more oil and sodium than raw almonds, also i am guessing that roasting nuts dnatures there nutrients, but I don't have a scientific basis for that.
You will find raw almonds in the bulk or health food section of the grocery store.

Raw walnuts are a great sub, in my mind better. Highest n3-n6 ration of any nut. You need n3's much more then n6's.

Sorry, i posted this in the wrong section, i just saw excercise and diet and didnt see the bodybuilding and competition part. Well my problem is in the Chow Hall here they just have a huge bowl of mixed salted nuts, i just scoop some out and pick the almonds out and eat them....

What about a good alternative to oatmeal? They don't serve oatmeal over here, only grits

Grits are comparable but a lot of the stuff they serve in chow halls is loaded in sodium. The article won't paste but here's the link:
