I am interested in beginning to train for fitness competitions and I have found a lot of good information on how to work out and what to eat to build muscle tone but I am wondering if I should jump right into that or attempt to lose all excess fat first by sticking with more cardio and fewer calories? I am 5'9 around 150 pounds. I work out regularly and am in decent shape but I'm not sure where to begin for this type of training. Help!

You should lose weight just by beginning the training and eating cleaner, I think you should start the training right away and the results will come.
