Ok, so this has been an ongoing battle for me.
I workout really hard 5 days a week. H.I.I.T. 2 times, weightlifting 2 times and 1 day of a 5 mi. run.
Here's my diet: BTW, I eat the same thing every day (or just about)
Meal 1: 1 serv. All Bran OR Oatmeal w/ 1/2c. milk, and a few sliced strawberries, AND 1/2 banana also a protein shake w/ bluberries
Meal 2: Fruit OR 1 slice toast w/ natural pb.
Meal 3: Big salad w/ lotsa veggies, 1 can tuna, oil & vinagar
Meal 4: Whey Protein mixed w/ water
Meal 5: Steamed veggies w/either shrimp, chix breast, or some other meat
Meal 6: Protein shake w/ cottage cheese & nat. peanut butter in it
I do not eat past 8 o'clock
I try to keep my carbs down in the pm hours. I religiously measure everything, and I usually eat about 1200 to 1400 cal. a day.
I tried before to eat more caloriesm but it was hard for me! I don't feel hungry. I try to get at least 130 gr. protein a day.
I'm having trouble loosing 5 lbs.. esp. around the abs.
Am I starving, is my body clinging to the fat it has?
Help!

Just off the top of my head, I'd say your a prime candidate for adding some healthy fat to your diet. I don't see any in what you posted. You might also try adding a little cottage cheese just before bed time.

You don't mention what you weigh, or what your bodyfat percentage is at, butI think you are starving. Add some fat, as mikencharleston says - a tbsp of flax oil to your shakes or some fish oil capsules.
You might try zig zasgging your calories by eating like normal for 3 days and then adding in brown rice, sweet potatoes, grains to bring your calories/carbs up for a day. This might trick your body into releasing some fat.
I think that working up to getting 1500 calories a day would probably be a good idea, you are doing so much that you are probably ending upburning off muscle tissue instead of making progress. you need to feed the muscles.

You say you eat the same thing or there abouts every day, but depending on which of the 2 meals you have for meal 1 and meal 2 could change your daily numbers significantly across the board(Cl/P/Cb/F). Depending on the oil you use in meal 3 and whether or not you have the Natural PB in meal 2, you may or may not be getting some decent fat. In meal 4 I would at least add something to the protein shake besides just water to slow digestion. And I'm just geussing you weigh around 130lbs., since you have yourself eating between 1200-1400 calories and 130g protein. The easiet way I ever had losing was "literally" eating the same thing everyday, especially if your looking to lose 5 stubborn pounds. I hate to say this Mike, but in my opinion I would avoid the cottage cheese before bed in her case. I would agree that she needs to get her calories bumped up to at least the 1400-1600 calorie range, if not even 1800, this still depending ultamately on her weight. Like she said "I working out really hard 5 days a week". So I think her calorie intake needs to go up for sure, just need to know her weight to determine where. As far as your question, I beleive you are probably doing both, storing fat and burning muscle. You may be salvaging some muscle depending on what meal you have before and after your workout, H.I.I.T., and run.

Ok, sorry.. I forgot...
I am 5'8" and weight around 140. (give or take)
Last time I had my body fat measured (a month ago?) I was around 23%.
I do wanna try to eat 1500 a day. maybe some more healthy fats too.
As far as what Amy said about eating normal 3 days then adding the "good carbs" one day... how much? what would be overdoing it? My problem w/potatoes, rice, etc. is that they make my tummy hurt sometimes so I've avaoided them

add a meal of either cottage cheese or protein shake before bedtime.
Increase the rest of your meal by a little bit of protein and a little bit of carbs, shouldn't be too hard to increase to 1500.
