I am 5'11, 240 Lbs, and not very much muscle. I am on a low carb diet consisteing of no more than 20 grams of carbs a day. I take 3 Nitro-Tech Shakes (20gms Protein each) a day. I do cardio 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. And lift weights according to my routine on this website (5 DAYS A WEEK). I also drink about 1.5 gallons of water a day.

Is it possible that taking in this amount of protein with this diet and exercise plan is too much? Would or could it be putting more fat than muscle? How about muscle and fat?

I am extremely motivated to lose weight, and gain lean muscle mass. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing, and not being counter productive.

I appreciate the information.

I would say you are not doing enough protein. Your diet you state is typically a CKD, and high protein with some fats is essential. There is no way you will gain weight on this type diet unless you are so far over your calorie limit.

You will need "refeeds" every 6 days or so, to restore glycogen, etc.

Carb ups. On a CKD, this is a necessity.

Ok, I am completely new to this and I dont want to sound ignorant... But when it comes to this I am!

When you say carb ups, do you mean add carbs to the low carb diet evey know and then? If so, how many carbs is good and at what intervals (once weekly, once monthly)

I really appreciate it!!!!

You will be achieving ketosis with the style diet you are doing. Every 6 days, do a carb up refeed.

You should be able to refill muscle glycogen with 24 hour carb up, as long as you are taking in enough carbs to do so.

As you proceed, and get leaner, you may need more frequent refeeds.
