Is it ok to take glucosamine without necessarily having joint problems? What else is good for cartilage and tendon regeneration?

It helps prevent problems. The glucosamine I take has chondroitan and msm in it, which are others, as well as fish oil. Also heard others use celadrin. Off my bottle, glucosamine helps regenerate cartilage, chondroitan helps promote lubricating fluid and MSM helps maintain elasticity. Not sure if at age 16 it's needed, I'll let one of the seaoned guys/gals field that one.

If you lift heavy or play impact sports, it wouldn't hurt...you're prehabbing in a sense
SAMe is another useful joint/mood supplement

I'll admit I havn't been too active lately, but the workout schedule I'm planning does involve heavy weight and low reps, so if I do start taking this stuff, approximately how much daily.

This is kind of off topic, but I also heard of some companies starting to market shark cartilage which is basically meant to have the same purpose. To me it sounds like total bullshit, anyone else heard of the stuff?

Shark cartilage isn't new, been around for some time. You can get it relatively easy. Also remember it being one of the components of animal pak. You can get it by itself though.
