ok whenever i do Barbell Squats on my way up i seem to want to push up with my toes instead of heals. Ive tried positioning my feet in wider and smaller stances but it seems to remain the same. My toes are generally pointing slightly out on my stance because if i dont i dont seem to have proper balance.

Is this an indicator of a particular type of squat form problem or specific to me? I've not been pushing myself to hard on these because i want to get form 100% but losing patience. Any suggestions?

How far back are you sitting? What form are you using? Depth?

Are you looking at yourself as your squatting in mirror or up?

Looking forward tend to make you wanan lean forward, causing he shift of weight.

also you need to sit back not down.

more than likly just a flexability issue.

I'm fairly sure my feet are not in front but will verify next time. I also never tried front squats so thats something i can try and report back.

Not 100% sure you mean by form. I've been following the instructions here on freetrainers. I try to get down as low as i can go and bring it back up without balance issues. I think its around 90 degrees on the legs or perhaps slightly lower.

As far as where im looking when i'm standing i fixed my gaze on a spot straight ahead and stare at that spot the entire squat. Where should i be looking?

I do have flexibility issues with my body (always have) that i am working on.

I may be sitting down instead of back. I have been trying to keep my back straight as possible and it may be i'm keeping it too verticle?

Some squats i do are better then others. On some in order to keep balance the weight will go to the toes while others it will stay midfoot but from what i understand it should be on the heel.

When i am all the way down in my squat where should the barbell be in relation to my foot/heal?

Sounds like technique to me. If it was mobility, then all your squats would be poor, not just some.

What breaks first, hips or knees?

thx for everyones help. i tried to do them today and did much better. i think the issue was i was not sitting back enough. Not bending from the hips enough thus not putting the weight further back on my heels.

By doing this i was able for the most part even keep my feet straight and around shoulder width.

Thats most peoples problem. Try to focus on breaking with hips first, getting deep by sitting back, not down.
