Well you wont get as many good proteins as in the commercial ones. You can mix milk, yogurt and fruit (no raw eggs).
This is good, but still too many carbs (this is not really a good protein shake).

Philia is right. Don't really think there was such a thing...at least one that is as good as a commercial product.

the one we use where i work (at a hospital) for renal patients is made from whipping cream , egg powder , ice cream and karo syrup. it has fat , carbs and protein. it is good if you are to add calories and put on some weight.other wise if you buy just a protein powder you can add anything to fixx it up. such as :fruit , pnutbutter , yogurt, frozen yogurt, juice and ect. david

nothing beats whole food. if you're trying to add quality excess kcals for mass and strength, we developed this recipe for heavy training. we would do at least 2 a day:
1 cup of nonfat milk 1 cup of cranberry juice 1 tbsp of heavy cream ½ cup of dry instant oatmeal 2 tbsp of raw bran ½ cup of nonfat unflavored yogurt 1 tbsp of unsalted natural peanut butter 4 tsp of malt ¼ cup unsalted soy nuts ½ cup of prepared egg whites, i.e. “egg beaters” 1 tbsp of natural honey 2 scoops of blended protein (i.e. milk and egg) 1 banana 4-6 baby carrots 1-2 other pieces of whole fruit or vegetable, i.e. apple, tomatoes, etc., cut into pieces ice
Pour the milk and juice into a large blender. Add the oatmeal, yogurt, peanut butter, malt, eggs, honey, and protein. Blend briefly, until items are partially mixed.
Stop the blender and scrape the sides, if needed. Start the blender again, and slowly add the nuts, banana, carrots, and fruit. Mix briefly. With the blender still on, slowly add ice. Blend entire combination until well mixed, pausing occasionally to pulse-blend and scrape sides as needed.
Drink slowly, generally taking about ½ hour to consume the entire shake.
hope this helps...........michael

Oh I wouldn't like to taste that one either!!!! Carrots for the fibres, oats, juice, milk...... and all blended together?!!!!! No wonder it takes a half an hour to drink......
Now who was crazy enough to get up with that one?

aww, c'mon guys! it's not that bad; i came up with this recipe several years ago when still competing. actually tastes pretty good. and its good for ya as well: veggies and fruit; fiber, etc. and its great for jacking your kcals thru the roof during a bulking cycle. however, this shake is definitely not intended for those just wanting to "tone-up", or whatever they call it (LOL).

My mass gain shake looks like this.
2 cups milk 3 ice cubues 1 serving protein powder 2 tbsp peanut butter 1 banana 1 tbsp honey
It tastes really good and it helped me add some needed calories to my diet and I added some much needed wieght.
