Okay tuesday with my trainer we did lat pull downs on the asst chin pull up machine Okay i've just started out and i have no upper body strength. And "T" bless him tried to asst. me and well i'm very heavy and it almost broke him to help me. What can i do to gain the strength i need to do it? What can i do instead that has the same effect? Oh and any ideas how i can break it to "t" not to do it without hurting his male pride? He's a great guy and always very helpful and i feel like i'm just saying sorry your not strong enough to help me. HELP!

Hi smurfval. I'd suggest you just let your trainer know that you're not really comfortable doing this particular exercise and could he show you another exercise that will do the same thing. I'm not sure I fully understand what he was trying to have you do, but chin ups are one of the hardest things for females to master...I'm still trying to do just one and I'm still a longgg way away! Typically with a lat pull down machine you sit in place and pull the lat bar down to your chest.

Good Luck!

Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

There a quite a few exercises he should be able to give you too replace an assisted chin machine, the Lat pull down being the most likely, do what flyonthewall suggests and ask him for an alternative.
