Is it bad if I under eat my nutrition goal? Im trying to tone up, and sometimes I don't eat as many calories or proteins etc, should I drink protein shakes or whatever to make up for it? What will under eating do?

Imnotcreative welcome.

I think I'll tell you (and the others) a small story.

Okey, I know that my case is probably different from you, but it's still good to know.
I'm on a diet. Not because I'm fat but because I'm preparing myself for a competition in April. I went to a dietician and he gave me a diet that I followed for one an a half week, and then I was forced to change. Why? Because I became all weak, couldn't train any longer (couldn't even go out with my dog!) got dizzy, sick and my muscles and joints hurt with every mouvement I did.

Now why all this? Because I have an extremely high activity level (and fast metabolism) and in my diet I ate only around 70gr of carbs and almost no fat (5-10 almonds daily). The rest was fruits, veggies and looooots of proteins (mainly white eggs). Not enough nutrition for me, I was under eating.
My body could handle this for a while, but then turned all dead...... No fun.

I haven't seen this dietician ever since.
Today I have changed the diet (more carbs and more essentiel fat) I'm still losing fat (and putting on muscles) but I have (almost) my old energy back, and I feel ten times better.

All this just to let you know how important the diet is. I don't know your goals, but my best advice to you is to listen to your body and its needs.
It's difficult excactly to know how many total calories one needs daily, but as a guideline try following FT's nutrition program with +/- 10-20%

Good luck to you.

my story... I underate from age 16 thru about 24 (thin was in) then when I decided to start weight training and eating well I started to gain weight fast because my metabolism had slowed so much through those years. I was active did cardio during the time I was eating "lite" too. My body just adjusted to the low calorie levels and high activity level. It took awhile to bring my metabolism back to normal. To this day my metabolism is slower than most. Why, the years of undereating. Thats why you don't want to do it.

Protein shakes (as well as MRPs and weight gainers) will definitely help compensate.

Good luck!

do you prep your meals ahead of time. i cook mine 2-3 days ahead then i also use a mrp or protein powder to get in the extra calories and protein for that day. sometimes i will eat up to 8-9 times a day i am trying to keep my calories under 5000 aday. for cutting i will go down 500cal every 4-5 days.

I know what you mean not tocreative, last night when I got home I removed 2 salads and a piece of tuna from my ice chest to my fridge. Good thing I had 3 protein shakes frozen, with me cuz otherwise I would havve ended up the day having skipped a meal and been hungry before bedtime!!!
So yes protein drinks are great to have in case its inconvenient to eat!
