Got these of IronMind thought they were very good ways of changing up exercises....another way to improve grip if fatbars are not available....

I am also guessing they can be used to do exercises with DBs...don't know about safety..but I would think on exercises like lunges...or variations of squats....deadlifts...

Any of you guys ever had to cut wire? A lot of kinds of manual labor involve a lot of grip. Doing construction with my dad taught me this the hard way... using rope, cutting wire, hammering, carrying things such as cinderblocks or other objects that are just odd to carry.....you get the picture, there are so many ideas for grip training, it's like unlimited.

It's kinda funny...a lot of this strongman stuff is very similar to stuff I've had to do workin outside with my dad at the barn and building stuff. If you know how hard tire flips are, try a tractor tire with the rim still on it...of course, I wasn't thinkin about building strength, just holdin it up while dad was fixin it, when that thing starts to lose balance, it's hell. You want a functional workout that involves a helluva lot of grip? Try lifting big plywood sheets that you can barely stretch your arms across and lifting them up to someone roofing, then hold them in a perfect spot while the person's hammering. You want strong hands and need a job? Do Construction.

Yeah whether or not that's what you were in it for. Strongman basically to me is like someone took some of the toughest physical labor possible and added competition to it.
