Hi everyone, when should I eat, before or after a workout? I was told by some people to eat before so you get protein. And i was told by some other people to eat after because your body needs nutrients to develop muscle. I have also been told the same about creatine. Some say take it before and others say after. Can any help me im confused.
As far as eating, you can eat about 1/2 hour before working out. Make sure, though, that you don't consume anything with a lot of sugar. Eat something like oatmeal or bananas (foods with a good mixture of carbs and protein). You'll need to consume protein immediately after working out (no later than 45 minutes after). Whey protein is the best type of protein consumed post-workout.
As far as creatine, follow the recommended dosage. During the loading phase, you need to consume about 5 grams 4 times per day. Your last dose should be post-workout. During the maintenance phase, you only need to take 5 grams twice per day...again, your last one should be post-workout.
