Welcome to the club mazzas. Pull ups are extremely hard to do and even more so for women. I have set a similar goal for myself this year and will be thrilled to do just one. I'm using an assisted pull up machine at my gym. It has a place that you kneel and set a counter weight so that you're only having to pull a portion of your body weight. I'm slowly but surely increasing the amount I can pull up--I'm up to about 100lbs, so I still have a long way to go. Any exercise that builds back and arm muscles will help i.e. lat pull downs, seated rows, bicep curls, assisted pull ups, bent over rows etc.
There is a great thread in the power lifters section (I think that's the one) called "progressive pull ups" -If I remember correctly- it has some great ideas to build up to a full pull up. It is thumbtacked near the top of the list.
Good Luck and welcome to FT!
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.
