Ok..so I am told to eat more calories because I am working out 3-4x a week. Increase the protein and drink more water. I use the whey protein 2-3x a day and have increased the water intake. I limit the sweets, watch the fats and breads. I take in maybe 1200 cal a day..maybe. What do I eat to add 'good' calories? I work with food and have lots of fruit and veggies at my disposal.

1200 cal/day doesn't sound like enough. Hopefully you are not using the supplement to replace a meal.
Good calories come from non processed foods, (lean meats, unprocessed rice or wheat, Veggies fruits, olive oil, flax oil etc.)
You may want tohave your calories at around 13-14 per lb of body weight. Hope this helps and welcome to freetrainers.

I agree with Ivan, 1200 calories sounds a little low. Determine your maintenance calories and slowly increase to about 10%-15% below them. Try and cut out sweets completely, don't be afraid of fats. Good healthy fats are an important part of your diet, especially if your going fairly low carb. I would suggest reading the "grocery list for healthy eating" in the specific diet and nutrition forum for "good" calories. The list given there has healthy food choices across the board. Base your diet around as many of these foods as you can. Veggies are good, eat as many as you like, nutrient dense and filling. Also agree with Ivan on the protein supplement, try and have it PWO only, with some simple sugars(drink 1/2 right away, then sip the other 1/2 over about 30 minutes), if you do have to have it as part of a meal replacement, try to limit it to only one time a day, and combine it with some oats or something to help slow its digestion. Try to get the bulk of your protein from whole foods. If you eat 5-7 meals a day, it isn't as hard as you think when you divide it up. Best of luck to you, and like Ivan said, welcome to FT!
