Diet: only liquids on mondays

Hi, I would like your opinion and thoughts on this: as a result of a high cholesterol and a moderate overweight (my BMI is 26), my nutritionist advised me to have one day of the week (mondays) and to ingest only liquids (soup, tea, non sugar jell-o, etc). The rest of the days I must follow my regular diet which is not really restrictive (I can eat almost everything but the key is moderation) and let me eat meat, pasta, vegetables, etc.

Is this advice a good idea? I'm 6 kg overweight, would I lose those extra kg following this method?
I guess I shouldn't train on mondays, because of the low calorie and protein intake, right?
