A diuretic is a substance that increases urine discharge....."a water pill".
I've heard potassium helps keep your water retention lower.
Not sure about the benefits of boiling. Some may say they retain more nutrients I guess. I think as long as something's not overcooked, your fine. Go for taste. I like chillin' and grillin'!

Why the interest in water retention and how to shed it? Are you going to be doing a competition? Just curious.

Boiling the chicken will simply avoid any "excess" calories from cooking it with something. My wife does this for me alot when dieting for competitions.

And the soup from it (skimmed of course) is the best!

drink water to shed water. your body produces anti-diuretoc hormone in response to not enough water being taken in. Stress also can cause the release of the anti-diuretic hormone.
Are you trying to drop water for a show?
you should try poaching or steaming your chicken, les rubbery than boiling.

Just caught this post again. The foam on the broth has to be skimmed off while it is cooking. While the soup chills, the fat comes to the top and you skim that off.
One would not use chicken breasts for the soup. We use a whole chicken, all of it. Carrots, Parsnip, dill, onions and garlic.
As a mater of fact you can add buckwheat to the broth when serving. What a meal!
