Just introducing myself here. I am a 35 year old female from Northern NJ. 9 months ago I had Gastric Bypass Surgery and to date have lost 115 lbs. I very much need to step up my fitness level as I have only been walking appr. 2 miles a day. I need strength, toning and need to learn other ways to improve my new body.

As a side note, I know alot of people may not agree with my choice to have the surgery. However, my PCP begged me to have the surgery because of my declining health. After months and months of research, I made an informed decision to have the surgery. I am not ashamed to tell anyone I had it and am very happy with my accomplishments.

For those who may feel that surgery is the "easy way out" Let me tell you it was not. Yes the weight falls off initially, but what you have to go thru was very hard.

I appreciate any feedback you may have. I just ask that I not be flamed for my choice.

Hi I can assure you that anyone either on the boards or in a IM flames you let me know I will DEAL with them . My wife had that surgery this past October and I know what it is like, I am in the planning part (have yet to finish the nutrition consults and set surgery date), myself for the Lapband procedure. Welcome and ask anything!

Thank you Mike, I really appreciate that. How is your wife doing thus far? What type of surgery did she have? If you don't mind me asking. I hope you get everything you need in order for the surgery. There is another site I belong to regarding support for the surgery. I am not sure if we are allowed to post them here or not. If so let me know and I would be happy to give it to you. It has been my saving grace for 9 months. Everyone is Extremely friendly and go out of their way to help in anyway that they can. Lots of tools and a boatload of resourses in helping with all facets and phases of WLS.

Thanks again, I already feel very welcome here.

My wife is doing great lost 120 lbs so far, her main key toit has been the YMCA. She so a weight lifting routine 2-3 times a week and does a water aerobics class 3 times a week.

That is great! I have been thinking about water aerobics too. I also wondered if joining a beginners yoga class would be to my benefit or not.
