Well, I'm new to this forum obviously. I'm an 18 year old guy weighing in at around 294lbs(whoa). I'm tired of not being able to do the things I want to do, wear the clothes I want to wear and just plain ol' sick of being unhealthy.
I'm really torn on how to go about my diet. For my workout I'm riding the stationary bike for about 45-60 minutes 7 days a week, free weights for about another 40, and then I'm going to try my hand at Pilates.
I'm really not into bulking up right now, just losing my weight..get down to around 180-200. Losing the weight sooner then later will help me in the long run. My food intake yesterday consisted of..
1 cup of corn flakes with chopped banana and a 1/2 cup of 2% milk for breakfast
A bowl of carrots for lunch
Lean Chicken Sausage for dinner
60oz of Water/Green Tea(Authentic, not sugar based)
Since I'm obese I figured that for me, this really isn't extreme dieting and I feel fine after the day (no rumbling, or pain). Am I setting myself up for failure? Keep in mind that I am on medicine called Topamax, which supresses my appetite(so much that I could go an entire day without food, unsafe obviously) so I'm committed to this wake-up call. I'm thinking that if I go the route of having a high-calorie diet..I'm going to be hurting myself in the long run. Is the low-calorie intake right for me? Or do you guys have any other suggestions?
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi
Even though you are on Topamax, you still need to eat and eat the right foods..Think of your weight loss as a lifestyle change and not a diet...
Your calorie intake is way too low and you are just going to end up starving your body and losing muscle along with fat, which is something you dont want to happen
You are better off to eat 6 small meals throughout the day, rather than larger ones..it keeps the metabolism burning.
Stay away from processed foods, which include white bread, white pasta etc and stick to whole grain products, fruits and vegtables and meat...
You need to eat in order to loose weight...good luck
