right now i cant really run i mostly walk i am/was a heavy smoker is their any way to get back up my lung capacity

I hope you can quit smoking 100%. Quitting smoking has many benefits as you already should know. Once you quit, your lung capacity will improve, many quitters notice an increase in lung capacity within a couple weeks.
As for the running, start out running for 3-5 minutes, every week try to increase it an extra 5 minutes. Be persistant and be strong, if this is something you really want to do, you will achieve it!
If you continue having problems running, you may want to see a doctor, you may have a medical condition that may be preventing you to perform at your greatest. (ie. asthma)

I heard a story this morning, He said lot's of runners smoke before they run to open up they lungs.

I was like (duh dunt ta duh) !!

Quiting smoking is bye far the best thing I ever did.

thanks guys i have been trying to quit for awhile and my job dosent help any either my dad has that indugestion(sp?) problem do u think that could be genatic(sp?) or somehing that i might have
