Situation: I work 12 hour shifts and rent a room in a house. I don't have time to make a full days worth of meals each day, and I don't have the room to make a weeks worth of meals in advance. lol, even if I did have the room I am sure my room mates would eat them on me. Oh ya, and I am most deffantly not made of money.
How bad of an idea is it to try and concentrate on a high supplement type diet, or a diet which consits primarly of a small number of different foods? (ie same food plan for every day)
I've searched and read alot of posts on different diet plans and recipes, but it's alot for a starter in diets. I'm looking for something that I can switch to quickly, then get out of as a learn more. Changing shopping habits and eating habits is a very hard thing for me. Sometimes I wish there were a cure all food for humans, you know like how dogs can eat nothing but the same old dog food all day every day, week in and week out, there is something like that, is there?
So the short and dirty of this:
1. Is a high supplement diet bad/unhealthy? (talking protein and carb supplements)
2. Is there an extremly easy all around product out there for individuals like me who are willing to sacarafice tastes and variety for a fast and easy diet?
3. Depending on the responses to those 2 questions, any recommendations on a really fast and simple nutritional plan?

Reak food is your best source but room mates can be a problem. Although not the optimum nutritionally, you're a prime candidate for protein powder and when you figure out the cost per serving, it's pretty practical. Then there's alway tuna or salmon or just figure out what your room mates don't like and stock up on that. :)

Like Mike said, canned tuna is cheap and pretty healthy. I also eat a lot of oatmeal, cheap and healthy. Cottage cheese is pretty cheap, also healthy. Protein shakes make it easier to get your protein level, but usually don't have too many calories so you will still need to eat a fair amount.

You may want to investigate some MRP's (meal replacement powders). For folks in situations like yours, this is a form of cheap, quick and easy nutrition to dietary needs.
