All I can say is that he is not match for the 18.5 inch arms this old Mutt has! That indeed is his problem. He is mad that my 2 year old son has legs bigger than his arms, that and the fact my 61 yr old momma can out lift him!

OK ask him if he needs a lower squat cage so he can reach the bar.
Ask if he is as gassy in the lower 40 as he is out of that wind tunnel mouth.
Ask if he has training wheels on his bench press.
Send him some clearasil...that always wrankles teenagers.
Just a few from the hip. If he whips your ass anymore I'll break out the other side of this Jethro Bodine brain.

Indeed.
I'll out pull you then, but I'm not pressing over 275 this year.
And the only reason you're mom can out lift me is cuz she's used to lugging you around. Speaking of which, are you deadlifting bodyweight yet?

Steve how come not try for 300 on bench? didnt you say u benched 275 at 150 or less?...isnt it pretty reasonable to add 25lb more with 15-20lb extra bodyweight? what's your bodyweight now?

I've hit 255. However, I could probably only hit 225 for a trile at the moment (haven't seriously pressed since the hand injury, tendons take forever to heal).
Besides that, I have never taken my bench press very seriously. Just never seen the appeal. If I put my mind to it, I'm sure I could get 300+. However, that won't happen, since the press is secondary to my goals (injury prevention and performance enhancement).
As for the weight thing, I'll have 2 seasons of rugby between now and the meet in the fall, so weight and strength may come slowly.
Besides that, I have 2 competitions (highland and strongman) to focus on before I even start preparing for this meet.
I'm just being nice by giving Scott a head steart.

Oh yea, my bodyweight is sitting around 155. Keep in mind that dropping 10-15 lbs the night of the competition to make a lighter weight class is not out of the questio for me. I could probably make the 148lb class pretty easily. If not it'll be at 165.

10-15lb drop in 1 day before competition? you're insane LOL

I wrestled at a state and national competition level all through high school, some water weight is nothing to me. Overload then cut out the sodium, drop the carbs, shot of whiskey and some tea before bed, and thats 10lbs overnight right there.

haha...wow...you got it down to a science...
when was the weigh in? night before or couple hours before match?
|
2006/08/10, 10:45 AM
Depended on the meet. For local meets, we weighed in in the morning and had a 3lb allowance for the match at 5pm. For states and nationals it was up to 2 nights before wrestling started.
