You'll love it mystic! We have a pool and it's like having a little lake in our own backyard. I wish I could skate on it in the winter though:)

Boy, I sure would enjoy a pool right about now:big_smile: Let me know when I can come over LOL:laugh: We were thinking about getting one also, but with the weather here we would only be able to use it about 2 weeks a year.

We got our above ground a few months ago and the kids and their stinky little friends LOVE it.They practically live in there.BUT we have had the worst problem with algae!!!We've been messing with this thing forever...so we go to a pool place that says our pump isn't big enough so we should buy a new one that costs $500!!!!We're shopping around for a better price...hope you have fun with yours!!!

DO NOT BUY A NEW PUMP! STOP! Algae is an organism and not caused by insufficient filtration or curculation. You are getting shafted if you buy a new pump! The algae can be removeed by proper water treatmentver a 24 hr period. Email me me if you need some help. You can have the strongest pump in the world and it won't fix your algae problem. It's a matter of water chemistry here. Save your money and time.

Wow....OK...I won't buy the pump!!This is my problem though...I can get rid of the algae with chemilcal treatments yes...BUT I get left with a big cloud.According to the pool guy it's where the chemicals have bonded with the algae and the cloud of stuff is what's left and my pump isn't getting that out.My main problem is I can't keep chlorine in the pool.We dump loads of chemicals in the pool every week and have a floaty thing with a chlorine tab but still every time I check the water there is no chlorine which, again according to the pool guy,is something to do with the direct sunlight and why I keep having an algae problem...any suggestions??I'm not sure of the dimmensions of the pool, but it's only 5,000 gallons, not to big.

Sorry to hijack your thread Mystic...but you'll probably find this information useful in the future!!:)

Right, don't want to hijack the thread but before any thing is added to your pool, you must make sure your ph level is correct. If that is off, nothing will work. It has to be between 7.4 and 7.6. Once you have that shock your pool. wait 8 hrs, and add algicide, don't get the 10%, use the 60% costs more but works. After 24 hrs turn your filter handle to waste or drain and then vacuum on the pool. Do not vacuum on filter as the algae will just come back in the pool and start all over. The important thing here is the ph level at the begining. I can't tell you quantities because I am not familiar with gallons as we work with litres and my pool is 40,000 liters (10,569 Gal). Hope this helps. But again don't get a more expensive pump.
