Okay, I’ve been playing around with my diet and I think I finally found something that works. It's more food than I'm accustomed to, but I need to gain the lean muscle. Let me know what you think:

Breakfast:

Oatmeal with protein powder

Midmorning Snack:

Smoothie made with non-fat milk, non-fat yogurt, protein powder, 1tsp. Flax seed oil and either strawberries or raspberries (this is the part of the day that I look forward to... yummy!)

or 1 slice of flax seed bread with 1 tbsp. of peanut butter

Lunch:

1/2 cup whole wheat pasta
Chicken breast or tuna

Afternoon Snack:

1 cup of skim milk
Banana

Dinner:

Fish or chicken breast
Veggies
½ cup brown rice

Bedtime snack:

protein shake made with non-fat milk

I also mix 1 tsp of Glutamine with a cup of Crystal Light in the morning, after my workout and before bedtime. I tried the glutamine just with water and could not stomach it!

This is the breakdown:

Calories: 1793 g
Carbs: 207 g
Protein: 196 g
Fat: 22 g

I think your fat intake might be a little low.

How do you feel...generally? You could also include some egg whites and nuts in your diet. Other than that, it looks pretty good. Keep us updated of your progress...

It looks preety good, but I wouldn't take in that much protein. I generally try to stick with 1g per 1pound. But as long as it works for you and you feel good, stick with it.

Thanks for your advice! I'm proud to report that I have lost 3% body fat and 3 lbs so far. My goal is to get down to about 18% and 120lbs by the end of the summer.

So far, I feel pretty good. I don't feel hungry and my craving for sweets has somewhat diminished. Another thing that I've noticed is that I am sleeping much better. By the time 10:00 rolls around, I'm exhausted!

I have to admit, I'm not a big egg white fan. Not to mention, I don't have time in the morning to start srambling up egg whites. I usually have the egg whites on the weekend. I will try to incorporate some nuts in my diet though. Perhaps some sunflower seeds in the afternoon with my banana and milk... that should help to get my fat intake up a bit.

Thanks again!

hey here is an easy way to make egg whites....put 4-6 whites ina microwaveable bowl. cook till it is white (usually 2 min) this makes it almos tlike it is fried. Of course without the butter or spray. You can put in a little salt and pepper or as I like a few shots of some hot sauce.....It is what I do and works very well. Give it a try

I've avoided egg whites in my diet purely becuase of the hassle to seperate. Is there an easier way to do it? I've tried seperating in the shell and in a container, neither is very easy and with what you get per egg i just gave up and cut it off.

Jingo,

Where do you live? In Canada and in the U.S., there are cartons of just egg whites available. They are usually located in the dairy aisle right next to the regular eggs and are sold in packages of two small cartons. Look for the name "Just Whites"... I think it's made by Eggbeaters.

Mutt, thanks for the microwave tip! I'll give it a try.

you've only given us 4 minutes to post a response, patience is a virtue!

i saw in your profile that you want to weigh 120lbs. it would help to know your activity level and current weight so that we can get an idea of where you are currently. the key to weight loss is to create a caloric deficit, but you have to take in enough calories to keep your body from thinking it's being starved. give us some more info to work with please!

I am struggling with my weight and I need a diet plan. But the bad thing is that I look for all of these diet plans and they are mostly things that I have never heard of. I need a diet I will be familiar with. FAST!!!!:(
