Here's the deal: My brother gave me his old benchpress, with the weights and all. They add up altogether to 160 lbs, and they have 2 'handles' so that I can use them as free weights as well, so basically I have access to a benchpress, and freeweights. I'm 16 years old, and not that big (5'8, 140 pounds), so I can't utilize the whole set yet. I was wondering if someone could post a workout routine for the week that I can follow, that can get me fit and cut, but built. I'm not sure when I should work each part of my body, and what exercises are best to do that, and what parts of the body even need working. I'll be doing cardio at least 3 times a week during this, so maybe build it around that? The cardio I plan to do is fartlek training (unless there's something better) which can be found at http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/fartlek.htm

I'm still having trouble with the fartlek training though. All the terms they use, I have no idea what they mean. Stride hard, warm down jog, recovery jog, jog run, warm up jog. What's their definiton of jog, about what speed?

You need to remember that when doing any routine that you should work on one goal at a time. You should try to bulk up and then trim down or trim down and try to bulk up. To try to do both at the same time is hard since they contradict each other. At the top of the page is a link for fitness plans. I would recommend since you have no plan to start with to go to that link and choose personalized program. Go through the screens and answer the personal questions that will lead ultimately to a specialized program for you. You can choose the program that is geared towards your goals at this time. This site will then provide you with a special routine just for you. They will include the workouts including the exercises, number of sets and reps. You should also look at the nutritional plan they provide for you. It will give you a good idea of how you should be eating in order to achieve your goals. Remember, it's not just about a good lifting routine. You must be following a good diet as well in order to give your body everything it needs to grow larger, lean muscles. Good luck!
