Hi everyone. I am starting my journey to weightloss. I have always considered myself a fit person, but college really took a toll on my body. I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I want to begin lifting to loose weight. Can anyone tell me what percentage of my max weight I am supposed to lift to help tone and scuplt muscles? I am a petite woman so I don't want to get really bulky, I just want to have some definition.

Welcome to FT, sfroemmi.... Please fill out your profile.

Heavy weight, low reps build muscle (don't worry, you won't get bulky like a man).... high reps, low weight build endurance...

I'm guessing the latter is more what you are after?

In one of the forums (can't remember which) there is a thread about toning posted by Big Andrew. Take a read through that...
