Hi everyone. I am an almost 44 year old dude who used to lift religiously until blowing out a knee doing squats. :( That was 20 years ago. Since then I have gained a lot of weight and become sedentary. I now have type 2 Diabetes as well as severe asthma. I decided today that the 290 pounds i carry on a six foot one frame was too much and i am tired of my shirts coming up from my belly on the bottom. I am trying very hard to rediscover the old fire that i had for weightlifting as well as the body i had then too. My question is: What do you all use as motivation? What stops ya from having the rest of the cake or that extra helping of dinner? What helps ya do your workout when you just don't feel like it? getting motivated is goin to be what is hardest for me. Fell free to email me with any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks. And, Thanks a million to the folks here for running this website. It may just literally save my life.

Well howdy bulldog!!!
watch out if a guy name menace pops on offering motivation advice...it's a real kick in the pants!!
Motivation is very tricky....I have to take it hour by hour some days....my real motivation is this site...with out it I would have quit already.I feel guilty if I try and chime into the forums if I haven't done my workout for the day...like I'm a fraud...I also have some online workout buddies.I have fun here and get ALOT of wondeful advice.
So...good luck to you...have fun!!!
And most important...welcome to FT!!:)
