Today I go in for a regular pre-natal check up, and was wondering if I should bring up something I just thought about.
Last November when I had my physical, the NP I saw said I had some post nasal drip, and prescribed a nasal spray. I used it, ran out, and that was that. This morning, I was thinking about that randomly, and realized that this whole time(since before my physical) my snot has been green, not clear. That means an infection right? Should I bring this up to my Dr when I go in today, or just wait until after baby is here to talk to him about it?? Sorry if it's off topic, but I don't really have anyone else to ask right now lol. TIA!! |

Yeah KC, I know about the dreams. I've already had some horrible ones about losing the baby even though in reality everything has been going smoothly. I'll go ahead and talk to him about it this afternoon. :)

If I am not mistaken, yellow is the sign of an infection. Not a doctor, so you should mention it to him just to be safe.-------------- Maximus from Gladiator....Strength and Honor! |

From Penn state university medical :
Many people think that a green or yellow nasal discharge means a bacterial infection, which requires antibiotics. This is NOT true. Colds will often begin with a clear nasal discharge, but after several days it usually turns creamy yellow or green. Colds are caused by viruses, and antibiotics will not help. A green or yellow nasal discharge is not a sign you need antibiotics. Call your health care provider if: A nasal discharge follows a head injury. The drainage is foul smelling, one-sided, or a color other than white or yellow. Symptoms persist beyond 3 weeks. There is fever along with nasal discharge -------------- \"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Every morning when i wake up i wash my face and blow my nose. my snot is sometimes green ,my nasel airway is clear and I feel fine. Green does not mean your coming down with something . It may be a sign of alergies also. Which can be off coloured or white. But if you are concerned then you should bring it up to the doc, especially if you are already have the appointment.-------------- Scales are for dead weight: We are not dead yet! hey crystal, i just found this on goggle @ www.wdxcyber.com
Is Nasal Stuffiness in Pregnancy Normal? Frederick R. Jelovsek, MD Over 30% of pregnant women report frequent or constant nasal problems. That makes stuffiness a problem so common it is called rhinitis of pregnancy. Is it always due to pregnancy -- no! There can be other causes and often preexisting problems get worse during pregnancy. ER Ransom and others pointed out the different problems that should be considered rather than just attributing nasal congestion to pregnancy -- Ransom ER, Senior B, Ransom SB. Rhinitis of pregnancy. The Female Patient 1998; 23:11- 20. Allergic causes of nasal congestion sometimes improve presumably due to the increased steroids of pregnancy. Other times, however, allergies get worse and steroid nasal sprays are needed. Bacterial rhinosinusitis is another cause of nasal congestion in pregnancy occurring in about 1.5% of women. It is characterized by yellowish or greenish nasal discharge, obstructed breathing and facial pain. Antibiotics are needed for this. Mechanical problems can also worsen in pregnancy such as a previously deviated septum when added to the slight swelling of the nasal skin can obstruct breathing. Preexisting nasal polyps often cause worsening of nasal breathing during pregnancy. An exam by an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist may be needed to diagnose polyps or other benign growths. Another cause of rhinitis has a complicated name -- rhinitis medicamentosa. This is a rebound rhinitis that results from excessive use of over-the-counter decongestant nasal sprays. It is a common pregnancy problem, perhaps because in pregnancy women avoid systemic medications to reduce nasal congestion and instead turn to topical sprays that they can get without a prescription -------------- When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life. |

Bill, you are just great with the google stuff. I can NEVER find anything helpful when I look lol.
BB1, Thanks for the good luck. The Dr. just thinks it's my allergies intensified. Good news on the baby front though, I've only gained 2lbs total so far, and my bp was 110/60 which is FABULOUS! Lonegirl, Congratulations to you too. I'll be 18 weeks on Friday. No problems so far other than pelvic pain going down the stairs, but I'm a tough girl, I can handle it!! |
