Actually studies have now shown that doing that before a workout does not stop a injury and can cause strength loss and even injuries. Better off doing a light cardio session of 5-10 min and or a few warmup sets. Nice JOB KC! Soon you will have guns like me!:big_smile:

Uh....I think I would fall over if I had guns like you!!!!

I do stretch before...just not much of one only a few minutes and I stretch during my rests.

AND I think you have picked Bill as your new sparing partner and you are just making that up that stretching before you work out will cause injury...to be spitful!!!

No I'm just kidding!!!!Don't get mad!!!!!:big_smile::love:

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

That was very interesting....but to quote Charlie..."lip diddeling at times with the jargon"....sometimes as a new member I get lost in the technicalities of it all and it can be quite daunting.But I am a willing student...so thanks for the post mi amigo.

Not gonna say it is wrong, just read a bit about it and make a decision. I never do it before, but I do have 1-3 sometimes even 4 warm up sets

No...I'm going with it...I can appreciate what gotormade is saying about teaching someone right in the first place.I know that just because the proverbial "they" said it was important to stretch before a workout could have made a mistake....once upon a time "they" said smoking was good for you!

Stretching is for sure overrated....especially of cold muscles. If you use the rubber band analogy, you can see this quite well. Cold rubber band stretched does not get too far, in fact may break quite easily. However, warm it up and see what it does, and tough to break.

Nice journal by the way....will have to stop by more often. Way to keep at it, this is an excellent motivational tool.

Now that makes it clear.....I was going to do it just to do it...because I have faith those advising it,and knew the light bulb would come on eventually...but the rubber band analogy makes it crystal clear.

Thank you ALL for your infinate wisdom.

So please explain what would constitute a REP versus a SET...I am totally confused...but please don't think of me as dingy...I prefer quirky!

A set is made up of a certain number of reps
for example I did 1 SET of 12 REPS!

You know, I was wondering why you were saying '1 set' then listing 3 and 4 sets of reps. I thought maybe we were meant to read it as 1 set of the following groups of reps.

Wow...KC...a whole inch! For me losing an inch would be huge progress. I think I've lost 2.5 inches since April.
